The Aiguille du Midi cable car in the Mont Blanc massif is back in action after having been shutdown on 4 June in order to replace the cable that had been substituted in October 2017.

The Compagnie du Mont Blanc technicians worked round the clock to reopen the first first section that leads from Chamonix to Plan de l’Aiguille on 30 June. The second section from Plan de l'Aiguille to Aiguille du Midi was opened on 4 July, three days ahead of schedule.

As reported previously, access to Mont Blanc via the Italian side of the mountain has always been guaranteed by the Skyway cable car from Courmayeur.
