Mille Melloblocco

Oh yes, the magical threshold of 1,000 registered climbers for Melloblocco — for over 20 years the biggest bouldering and climbing meeting in the world - was surpassed a few days ago. 1,275 participants, to be precise, will currently head into Val di Mello and Val Masino from the 7th to the 10th of May to celebrate a ritual that never seems to age.

With less than a month to go, this impressive number of pre-registered Melloblockers reaffirms how deeply the event resonates with climbers of all generations. For the €20 registration fee, these climbers - and those who choose to register in the coming days - will secure the beautiful goody bag which contains the legendary Melloblocco T-shirt, the iconic treasure map, and a range of other gadgets. Take note: only 2,500 bags are available this year, and they must be collected in person at the Melloblocco Village during the event — no home delivery!

Preparations are in full swing up in the valley. While the official program is still being finalised (the organisers are adding the finishing touches as we speak), rumors abound about a huge number of side events, talks, workshops, athletes, ambassadors, and special guests — so many that four days won’t be enough! But that’s quintessential Melloblocco: once you get there, there’s no real program that needs following, just the “harmonious chaos” of climbing, improvising, and having fun, all while respecting others and nature.

Like last year, the official photographer is tireless Giacomo Tonioli, while the videographer is a familiar face, Michele Caminati — a powerhouse boulderer with an eye for the perfect shot.

And, underscoring Melloblocco’s tremendous success, this year the official media partners are Climbing Radio and Up Climbing for Italy, while international partners feature Desnivel and WoGu (Spain), emontana (Czech Republic), Fanatic Climbing (France), La Crux (Switzerland), Gory (Poland), and the global platforms Planetmountain.com Epic.tv and Vertical Life.

News just in: while campsites already full, the San Martino sports field will reopen as an additional campiste for tents, while the Cataeggio sports field will host camper vans. Interested campers should email camping@melloblocco.it
