On 3 September at the Frasassi Climbing Festival in Italy the second Cala Cimenti Award was assigned to Matteo Della Bordella "For the incredible rescue carried out in January 2022 on Cerro Torre of friends Tomy Aguilo and Korra Pesce. A demonstration of absolute strength, courage, selflessness and solidarity."

The recognition was established in memory of Italian mountaineer Cala Cimenti who died in his home mountains in early February 2021 with his friend Patrick Negro, and is awarded to those who stand out for their actions in the mountains. Not only for their mountaineering achievements, but also their ethical and moral values.

Della Bordella commented "Mountaineering also means mutual help. It means knowing how to abandon an objective and give everything you’ve got to help a climbing partner in need. These are values the Cala Cimenti shared with us through his own mountaineering. That’s why I’m honoured to receive this award, and even more so because the Cala Cimenti Award allows us to give a helping hand to those in need."

The award includes a check worth €1000, which the winner has the right to donate to a worthy cause. Della Bordella chose to split the sum equally between Casa Matteo Varese, in memory of his friend Matteo Pasquetto who died on the Grandes Jorasses in August 2020, and ClimbArmy, in support of Ukrainian mountaineers.

Della Bordella extended the prize "… to all the people which put aside their personal ambitions, their tiredness, their fears and helped that night in the Cerro Torre rescue. Especially to my friends Roger Schäli, Thomas Huber and Roberto Indio Tree. Physically and mentally for us it really was a big deal. Nothing would have been possible without a strong team effort and mutual support."
