The Fédération Française de la Montagne et de l'Escalade awarded the climbers Benoist-Glairon-Rappaz and Bérhault-Magnin for their outstandiing ascents in 2003
On 6 February 2004 the Frenchmen Stéphane Benoist and Patrice Glairon-Rappaz were awarded the Expé Cristal FFME 2003 by the French Mountaineering Federation for their new route on the North Face of Thalay Sagar (India). Patrick Bérhault and Philippe Magnin received the award for the Alps-Europe category for their 16 winter ascents of some of Mont Blanc's hardest routes. This completely French award was presided by some of the most famous names in French mountaineering: René Desmaison, Georges Payot, Jean Claude Marmier, Lucien Bérardini Robert Paragot, Maurice Gicquel e Pierre Mazeaud. Stéphane Benoist and Patrice Glairon-Rappaz The duo made the most of exceptional ice conditions to forge a daring line up the North Face from 21-30 September 2003. Patrick Bérhault and Philippe Magnin In less than a month the two climbed 16 routes on the Mont Blanc's Freney and Brouillard Pillars, after having established base camp close to the Eccles bivouac.
