Arc'teryx Alpine Academy 2019, alpinism and climbing for everyone on Mont Blanc
Believe us, it's a great event. The Arc'teryx Alpine Academy will once again take place at Chamonix from 4 to 7 July 2019 and for the eighth year running the town at the foot of Mont Blanc will host an absolutely unique meeting that really is worth joining. We’re certain of this, because in the past we’ve taken part in it, too!
Partnered this year by CAMP, as always the Academy offers a long weekend of climbing and mountaineering, aimed at all those who want to find out more about how to climb safely in the mountains. To do so there will be a myriad of clinics run by over 120 professional mountain guides and more than 30 world-renowned athletes such as Nina Caprez, Will Gadd, Ines Papert and Luka Lindic, that will range from ice climbing for beginners to glacier travel, basic mountaineering skills, GPS orienteering, mountain medicine etc..
The clinics are offered at a discounted price thanks to an agreement between Arc'teryx and the Chamonix mountain guides, and the meeting is so interesting that last year it attracted more than 450 alpine enthusiasts from 30 countries who came to advance their mountain skills. In addition to the daytime clinics, there will obviously be evening shows that provide important opportunities to share alpine knowledge
The entire setup seems almost too good to be true, and in truth there is one small "problem": every year the clinics are sold out in record time. Registration online starts at 15:00 on 20 March, and if you miss this there’s a second opportunity at the same time on 17 April. The detailed list of all the clinics was published just a few hours ago… take our word for it, it’s really is worth going.
