Serre Chevalier and Bouldering World Cup
The Bouldering World Cup 2001 takes place on 22-23 July and the prestigious 12th International Master at Serre Chevalier gets underway today
This weekend is marked by intense competitions, as the third stage of the Bouldering World Cup takes place on 22-23 July and the prestigious 12th International Master at Serre Chevalier gets underway today. 12th International Master at Serre Chevalier Serre Chevalier, or rather the French answer to Arcos Rock Master, is for historical reasons one of the most sought after titles in the competition circuit. And it wasnt by chance that last years winners, Liv Sansoz (victorious in 96 and 97, too) and Yuji Hirayama (1st in 92) also won the overall World Cup 2000. The list of previous winners includes, amongst others, François Legrands record breaking five victories (91, 94, 96, 97, 98), Muriel Sarkany (99 and 98), Isabelle Patissier (90 and 91), Arnaud Petit (95) and Cristian Brenna, winner in 1999. Bouldering World Cup, third stage The third stage of the Bouldering World Cup, hosted by the German Alpine Club (DAV), takes place in Munich this weekend and may prove to be the turning point before the long summer break. It is followed by Rovereto in September and Birmingham in December. Jérôme Meyer (France), Mauro Calibani (Italy), Daniel Andrada (Spain), Frédéric Tuscan (France), Tomasz Oleksy (Poland) and Salavat Rakhmetov (Russia) are currently vying for the podium and Munich may well prove decisive. In a league of her own, French Sandrine Levet has distanced her compatriot Myriam Motteau by 37 points who, in turn, is followed closely by the Russians Olga Bibik and Olga Jakovleva, intent on making their mark. What a weekend it should prove to be!
