Los Angeles Long Beach area the venue for Climbing at LA28 Olympic Games

In a release made by the IOC and confirming multiple sports venues for the summer showpiece, Climbing is now set to take place in the Convention Center Lot in Long Beach. The IOC said the Long Beach venue offers “stunning views, framing the temporary Climbing wall with the nearby Pacific Ocean as an iconic backdrop.”
The world-renowned Long Beach area of Los Angeles will be home to a multi-sport event arena in the Convention Center Lot with Climbing alongside other sports such as Artistic Swimming and Water Polo in temporary venues.
Olympic Games viewers got a small taste of what Long Beach has to offer at Paris 2024 as the closing ceremony moved from the Stade de France to the USA west coast for the LA28 handover celebration with music coming from Billie Eilish, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg, among other artists.
The legendary rapper also brought Long Beach into public attention during Paris 2024, as the Long Beach local took the internet by storm with his enthusiasm and appearances at many sports during last year's Olympic Games.
The venue announcement follows the news that Climbing will have three sets of medals for both men and women with all the sports core disciplines – Lead, Speed and Boulder – receiving standalone event status. Climbing also has an increase of the athlete quota to 76 – 38 women and 38 men – at LA28, up from 68 at Paris 2024.
