The 2019 Climbing World Championships kicked off in in Hachioji, Japan, yesterday with over 253 athletes from 39 different countries registered to compete in the 12-day event that includes Bouldering, Lead, Speed and Combined. The stakes are higher than ever before as the 7 highest placed athletes of the Combined event qualify for the first-ever Summer Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Tokyo 2020

Competition was understandably stiff in the opening round of the Championship, the Bouldering qualifiers, and this has paved the way for the Semifinals and Finals which will take place on Tuesday morning and Tuesday afternoon. Take note of the time difference: GMT+9, which equates to Tuesday morning 2:00 am CET for the Women’s Semifinals and 5:45 am CET for the Men’s Semifinals, while the Women’s Finals take place at 09:45 am CET, and the Men’s at 13:00 CET.
