Sean Bailey has been on an absolute tear in recent weeks, repeating two cutting-edge boulder problems in two completely different parts of the world.
The 28-year-old American got the ball rolling at Mizugaki in Japan by cruising up Floatin, the raw power 8C+ put up by Ryuichi Murai in December 2021. Bailey then travelled to Chironico in Switzerland where he now checks in with the sixth ascent of Alphane. Put up by fellow countryman Shawn Raboutou in April 2022 and graded 9A, this long leftwards traverse has been repeated by Aidan Roberts, Will Bosi, Simon Lorenzi and Jakob Schubert.
Bailey has not commented about the grade but it may well stand as his second 9A, the first being his own Shaolin at Red Rock earlier this year.
