I’ve been a member of the Italian Paraclimbing team for slightly over a year, and last summer after the International Masters at Imst, Austria, Lorenzo Major sent the following words to our team: "I noticed the right approach that everyone has had in this competition and I believe that coach Marco Ronchi’s suggestion was really precious: to enjoy it for what it is, namely a beautiful game... I can't wait to meet up again with all of you. Thanks for the emotions you guys give me.”

At Imst Lorenzo fought and won with his arms, then he cheered for every one of us. And at the following comps, at the World Cup in Briançon and at the World Championships in Innsbruck, Lorenzo was our flag holder: he knew how to comprehend and admire what those who cannot see, those without a limb, manage to invent. And he rooted for everyone.

He also knew how to laugh and smile from his wheelchair. We miss Lorenzo the man, as well as Lorenzo the athlete. A strong hug to his family, and a gentle caress to his little baby.

It is with a heavy heart that the IFSC announces the loss of Paraclimbing athlete Lorenzo Major (ITA), aged 47.
