Pete Whittaker
Last season Pete Whittaker travelled to Patagonia for the first time and teamed up with Patagonian veteran Sean Villanueva O'Driscoll to go climbing in the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre massif. Despite poor weather the duo managed two first free ascents, Yacaré (550m, 7a) on Aguja Rafael Juárez established a few days earlier by Pedro Odell and his brother Tomas Odell, and Andá P'allá (500m, 8a) established on the West Face of Aguja Guillaumet at the start of January by Jeremías Castaña, Facundo Saubidet and Santiago Scavolini. Whittaker and O'Driscoll also attempted a route on El Mocho, but failed to free the entire line.
