Between 2014 and 2015 Rolando Larcher and Geremia Vergoni forged a no-compromise route up the bullet-proof limestone on the south of the Marmolada. Their 560m high Scacciadiavoli breaches difficulties up to 8a+/8b max and 7c obligatory sections, and after the ground-up first ascent on the Piz Serauta shield, they returned in summer 2016 to make the first free ascent over a period of two days. The documentary directed by Pietro Bagnara portrays clearly why Scacciadiavoli is a manifesto of the upper echelon of difficulty and beauty on the Queen of the Dolomites.
