On 2 November Italian mountain guide Marco Milanese completed a wingsuit flight from Torre Delago (2790m), one of the spectacular spires that compose the Vajolet Towers in the Rosengarten / Catinaccio massif, first climbed solo by Hermann Delago on 22 September 1895.

Milanese reached the exposed summit by making a free solo of Spigolo Piaz, the über-classic airy arête first climbed on 8 August 1911 by the "Devil of the Dolomites", Tita Piaz, with Francesco Jori and Irma Glaser.

Taking all his gear with him the 35-year-old then leapt from the summit and landed just over a minute later he landed close to Plafötschalm. The BASE jump in itself isn't too demanding technically and has already been carried out by others previosuly, but nonetheless it is highly spectacular, in one of the most unique settings of the Dolomites.

As with his BASE jump from Campanile di Val Montanaia in 2016, his triple free solo and BASE jumps from the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in 2018, or his ski base from Monte Cavallo di Pontebba in the Carnic Alps in 2021, this is Milanese's way of seeking the aesthetics and perfection.
