Another new route put up by Martin Riegler and Florian Riegler close to Bozen, this time on their home mountain, Schlern. In early spring the two forged Goldfinger ground-up through its overhanging limestone shield, and in June they freed the circa 200m with difficulties up to 7c.

The route climbs an interesting mix of cracks, slabs and pockets up the righthand side of the face and shares the final pitch with Die Unvollendete des Sepp Schrott because "there was no point doing otherwise, anyways this pitch is really great."

It's worth noting that Goldfinger is Florian's second route on Hammerwand, after Panorama put up in 2004 together with Moritz Tirler. Although bolt-protected, true to their first-ascent style a set of mid-size Friends are highly recommended.
