Everest-Lhotse Traverse - the latest

Simone Moro and Denis Urubku in final preparation for the Everest-Lhotse Traverse.
Simone Moro
Simone Moro, who is planning to complete the as yet unclimbed Everest-Lhotse Traverse, is currently resting in Dingboche along with his climbing partner Denis Urubku.
Their attempt is to be carried out in pure alpine style, without the use of oxygen or porters.

The two have already climbed to the South Col, 8000m, via the Western Cwm. They spent the night there acclimatising and then descended to Dingboche to recuperate briefly before their final summit push.

On 17 May they will return to Base Camp, from where they will once again climb to the South Col. Moro will then continue alone via the South Summit, 8760m, and Hillary Step to the summit of Everest.

After having climbed this section he will descend these tiring 850m to the South Col where, together with Urubku, he will summon up all remaining energy and set off along the ridge to reach the summit of Lhotse, 8516m.
