Painting the Mountains, steep skiing in Patagonia with Aurel Lardy, Vivian Bruchez, Jules Socié
Watch Aurel Lardy, Vivian Bruchez, and Jules Socié exploring ski descents in the Fitz Roy massif in Patagonia in the award-winning film 'Painting the Mountains' by Matthew Tufts.
In 2023 a team of French skiers comprising Aurel Lardy, Vivian Bruchez, and Jules Socié reached in El Chalten in Patagonia with the ambition to pioneer new ski lines in the granite walls of Fitz Roy massif. Their efforts, which include the first repeat of the Whillans-Cochrane ramp on Aguja Poincenot a decade after the first descent carried out in a moment of pure folly and genius by Andreas Fransson, as well as establishing the nearby Mini-Whillans exit, are documented in the award-winning film by photographer, journalist and artist Matthew Tufts. One of the best steep skiing films we've seen in a long time.
