Salewa Rockshow, the 2012 tour begins

April heralds the start of Rockshow 2012, the tour promoted by Salewa and open to everyone. This journey across nine European cuontries aims to discover the climber with the "vertical X-factor" and will culminate in July with the final at the Outdoor fair in Friedrichshafen. Registration is open for all those wishing to take part in the qualification round.

Salewa Rockshow, the tour begins once again. Or, put in other words, get ready to climb, show your talent and, of course, demonstrate how much you enjoy climbing. The appeal is aimed above all young climbers (but not only) who want to prove and test their love for climbing and their vertical talent. All you need to do is register and... it's as easy as ABC. As ever, the great 4th RockShow journey will be marked by its international appeal. 9 countries are involved in this tour, including Italy, and there are three distinct phases. The first phase takes place indoors - a sort of qualification round - while the second phase takes place outdoors at crags dotted around Europe to then finish in mid July at the Outdoor trade fair in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

In Italy the first step, the RockCalling, is a day's climbing multiplied by 5 stages where the name of the game is climbing and having fun. At each stage a special jury comprised of local athletes will nominate a maximum of 3 winners on the basis of the climbers' technique, stile and personality. But the RockCalling is much more than this... because it's also a celebration, with live music and everything needed to have dun in one of the 5 climbing walls which host the event: Elcap at L'Aquila; il.PUNTO ay Borgo San Dalmazzo (CN); Sport e Cultura at Bergamo; Topo Pazzo Climbing House at Aosta and the Salewa Cube at Bolzano.

The second round includes what simply couldn't be omitted... the element rock. The winners of each Rockcalling stage, which take place in Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Poland, Russia, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, will meet up and spend a day climbing at a crag with the pro climbers of the Team Salewa alpineXtrem. Cala Gonone in Sardinia will host the Italian stage and the likes of Florian Riegler, Roger Schäli and Johanna Ernst (to name but three of the Salewa team athletes) will certainly share some good climbing advice with the young climbers. At the end of the day two "Climber of the Day" will be elected, the best male and female climbers who take home a 300 euro voucher and also qualify directly for the final round.

The much-awaited, final round is the Rockfinal. This takes place in mid July at Friedrichshafen in front of a crowd of spectators at the famous Outdoor fair and it is here that the "Climber of the Tour 2012" will be decided. Apart from winning the title, the male and female climber will win an unforgettable VIP weekend at the first Rock Master Festival 2012 which will take place in Arco in September.

A final (and important) detail: all travel and accommodation costs at the outdoor Rockcalling stage and the final in Germany will be paid by Salewa.
