Dolorock 2019, the May climbing festival in the Dolomites

It’s time! From 24 to 26 May the Climbing Festival will take place all around the Three Peaks. This sports and cultural event that crosses language and borders is taking place for the seventh time and has by now become one of the largest sports climbing events in Europe.

Like every year, the festival will be opened with a very special cultural show. On Friday, 24 May at 9:00 pm there will be a drive-in cinema at the Dobbiaco indoor climbing centre. It will show the Dirtbag – The legend of Fred Beckey, a documentary of the life of the American alpine climber Fred Beckey. Rebellious, sarcastic and inspirational, he lived the climbing lifestyle to his death at the age of 94 as intense as hardly anyone else. The organising committee (the Alta Pusteria climbing club "Gamatzn") ensures the perfect atmosphere with hotdogs, popcorn and drinks.

On Saturday it’s time for the Dolorock Red Point Fight from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm - a climbing contest where fun predominates. The climbing takes place in the climbing crags in Val di Landro. The rankings are (for each, women + men): professional, amateur (mean value), youth and 50+.

At 7:30 pm the awards ceremony with many non-cash prizes will take place in the marquee in the Dolorock area (at the Grand Hotel Dobbiaco). The culture club "Circolo Culturale" provides food and drink. There will be celebrations and dancing at the subsequent climber’s party with the music band "Pink Armada"
If you don’t want to go home, you can pitch your tent at the Dolorock campsite.

For the perfect start to Sunday, 27.05. a climber’s brunch is served in the Dolorock marquee from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. Tired limbs are restored at 11:30 am with "Yoga for climbers".

Dolorock Climbing Festival 
Organised since 2013 by Gamatzn, the South Tyrolean climbing club that brings together climbers and mountaineers of Val Pusteria, Dolorock aims to use climbing to overcome linguistic, cultural and geographical barriers. The meeting is designed welcome diversity, promote tolerance and nurture critical discussions on issues related to climbing and mountaineering.
