Stube, the new sport climbing crag in Höhlensteintal, Dolomites
The Landro Valley / Höhlensteintal is a side valley of the Alta Pusteria / Hochpustertal, which is situated in the east of Italy’s South Tyrol. Approximately in the middle of the valley the gorgeous view towards the world-famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo / Drei Zinnen, a prominent massif and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, takes every climber’s breath away. The Drei Zinnen and the Dolomites are a famous destination for ambitious trad climbers and mountain lovers.
This valley offers no only trad climbing but also outstanding sport climbing. Just a bit further to the south, right next to the road, you reach the magnificent lake Dürrensee / Lago di Landro. A remarkable number of crags have been established close to this lake and throughout the valley, in particular thanks to the tireless efforts of local climber Hannes Pfeifhofer and friends, who bolted one route after the next on both sides of the valley, wherever suitable rock could be found.
Stube in the Landro Valley is a newly developed crag and has already turned out to be a hugely popular valley venue, ideal for experienced climbers who love solid dolomite rock. The crag is located immediately above the lake, the routes are either vertical or wildly overhanging rock and offer varied, interesting climbing. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful crags in this area.
