Patagonia senza dighe
Momentum is gathering for the international campaign against the proposed construction of 5 dams on two immense rivers in the heart of Patagonia, River Pascua and River Baker in Southern Chile. Apart from submerging more than 6000 hectares of forest ecosystems and some of the most productive agricultural land in the area, the project also includes the construction of more than 2000km of transmission line and 6000 towers which would cross one of the most magical and still untouched areas on our planet included in 4 National Parks and numerous National Forest Reserves and Protected Areas.
The problem is evidently extremely complex, so much so that the Chilean Supreme Court is also dealing with this issue, but for those who want to find out more about the advantages, disadvantages and alternatives, we recommend you check out www.internationalrivers.org and watch the video below.
