After having celebrated its 30th anniversary just less than two months ago, with over 1,100 skiers lined up at the starting line, the “Sellaronda Skimarathon” is already looking towards the future and to the 31st edition. The organizing committee headed by the staff of Val di Fassa Grandi Eventi has set the date for the 2025 race: for all ski-mountaineering enthusiasts, the day to mark on your calendar is Friday 14th March.

According to the yearly rotation, in 2025 Val Gardena will host the start and finish of the popular night time marathon raced in couples. The athletes will start in the town of Selva Gardena/Wolkenstein where they will also finish, in between, as tradition dictates, they will tackle the ascents towards the mountain passes of Passo Gardena, Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi and Passo Sella for a total of 42 kilometres, with 2.700 metres of vertical height gain. As always, there will be the characteristic transit through the villages of Corvara, Arabba and Canazei.

The last edition, held on Friday 22nd March, rewarded the duo Alex Oberbacher from South Tyrol (ITA) and the Belgian athlete Maximilien Drion, who were the first to cross the finish line in Canazei (3h04’03” was their final time), writing their name on the race’s hall of fame, keeping the favourites on the eve of the race behind them, the two athletes from the “Centro Sportivo Esercito” (Army Sports Team) Davide Magnini and Michele Boscacci.

In the female race, the two Italian athletes Alba De Silvestro and Giulia Murada dominated the scene, winning in 3h39’45” ahead of the Austrian girls Sarah Dreier and Johanna Hiemer, behind by 3'23”. In the mixed team category, it was Martin Anthamatten and Viktoria Kreuzer (3h38’32”) who won the race.
