ROVERETO BOULDERING WORLD CUP 2006 - the
News about the structure of the Bouldering World Cup 2006 at Rovereto and the Parassiti Rock due to take place at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Rovereto from 12 - 14 May 2006.
BOULDER "REGGAE" AT ROVERETO While Kilian Fischhuber and Olga Bibik enjoy their victory at Veliko Tarnovo and their leadership of the Bouldering World Cup 2006, the organisation is in full swing at Rovereto for the third World Cup stage, scheduled for 12-14 May. Attention is focused first and foremost on the competition structure, where the best boulderers in the world will battle it out on problems set by Jackie Godoffe, Loris Manzana and Mario Prinoth. A first glance at the photos of the "model" reveal that the structure at Rovereto will be large, motley coloroued and dynamic. A closer look reveals a wall 20m long and 4.80 m high, comprised of a series of slabs, overhangs, stepped roofs and caves all intertwined and amalgamated in search of the perfect mix of power (alias "mr" roof and overhang) and technique (alias "madame" slab). A mix which obviously represents the essence of bouldering. The structure due to take shape at Rovereto's sports centre will be a wide and varied competition structure, coloured to the tune of reggae to inspire the route setters, the athletes and, why not, the participants of the Parassiti Block, Sunday's open-to-all meeting which take place on the same World Cup competition structure. Let's analyse the numbers in detail. The structure, which will be mounted with the Sports Centre in via Piomarta, 1 (close to the MART museum), will be elevated onto a 1m high stage. It will be 20m wide and 4.8m high. The cave on the left will be 2m deep, while the largest overhang will be formed by a central panel 3m off vertical. The roof above the cave will be 2m wide.
All that is left to say is: have fun... following the rythem and flow of the boulders!
