Rock Junior returns to Arco on 17 and 18 June. This is the first great event of the season which promises something completely new: the legendary Rock Master competition will be joined this year by the first ever Arco Rock Legends Award!

The European Youth Climbing Days are just around the corner! On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June the small Italian town of Arco will host the fifth edition of the Rock Junior youth climbing festival. Arco's Climbing Stadium will once again host hundreds of children aged 5-13 who, together with their parents, will play the climbing game in complete safety.

But Rock Junior is simply the first of a series of sports climbing events organised by the Rock Master Association, as this year's season is richer than ever before. Apart from Rock Junior and the classic Rock Master, the twenty year old competition which takes place every first weekend of September, this year's program contains something completely new: the international awards "Arco Rock Legends" and "Arco Climbing Competition."

The entire season of climbing events in Arco

Rock Master's super athletes and the playful climbing of the European Youth Climbing Days - Rock Junior. The great vertical arena of the Climbing Stadium and the discovery of Mother Nature's marvellous rock garden. And, furthermore, the creation of an important new award dedicated to the most important players who climb outdoors and compete indoors. Just as for the last twenty years Arco will be the center stage of world climbing with a series of special sports climbing events. And, once again, it will be an extraordinary season organised by the Rock Master association, in collaboration with the Province of Trento and the Arco town council.

The 2006 calendar is a true synthesis of what sports climbing is all about. The events, which will take place from June to September, are united by one central theme: to promote climbing and the territory of Arco which, in the past and in the future, has given much to this sport.

Rock Junior and Rock Master will be joined by Arco Rock Legends, a unique international award dedicated to the biggest names in sports climbing outdoors and in competitions indoors. The athletes will be judged by the most important climbing magazines worldwide not only for their ascents, but also for their contribution to the style and evolution of this sport. This initiative stems from the newly founded Arco Rock Legends Association and is based on the experience and continuous success of the 20 year old Rock Master Association.

ROCK JUNIOR - Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June 2006
The first event to take place in Arco will be the fifth edition of the Rock Junior, the European Youth Climbing Festival for experts and novices alike. This is a true Festival for children aged 5-13 who, together with their families, wish to discover the climbing game in complete safety. The combination of the Lake Garda backdrop, the natural rocks and habitat, and the Climbing Stadium transformed into a massive vertical fun park will make for a unique Festival.

ROCK MASTER - Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September 2006
It's the most eagerly awaited and sought-after Trophy, the 20-year-old champion's competition in which only the best athletes in the world compete. This appointment has become a ritual in it's own right, and every year thousands of passionate fans flock to the stadium to watch history in the making. The Rock Master is obviously a two day full immersion into the Difficulty lead climbing event, but the weekend also includes the exciting Sint Roc Bouldering Contest and the world-famous lightening quick Speed competition: this is where the fastest climbers sprint to the top in a race against time and their opponents.

PREMIO ARCO ROCK LEGENDS – Friday 1 September 2006
This year's new entry is a unique event in the sports climbing spectrum. Two international prized will be awarded during Friday evening's Awards Ceremony: "Arco Rock Legends" and "Arco Climbing Competition". The first distinction will be awarded to the climber who distinguished him/herself most on bolted sports routes. Both the performance and how he/she managed to influence the style and ethics of sports climbing will be taken into account. The second distinction will go to the climber who distinguished him/herself in competition climbing (Lead, Boulder or Speed) during the season prior to the Award. The Jury will be comprised of a selection of the most important climbing magazines worldwide.
