They set off a mere five days ago and something already seems clear at the Red Bull X-Alps 2013: Christian Maurer (SUI1) already seems to have an unassailable lead. The ace Swiss paraglider has built up a comfortable margin thanks to having used his Night Pass on day 1; this move surprised all and enabled Maurer not only to walk through the night but also to take off two hours before all others. From that point on he glided away from the rest of the field and while the two-times winner is currently flying over the Matterhorn after having covered more than 650km, all the others lag 150km behind. Obviously much still needs to be done and anything can happen... in the meantime there's a real battle for second and third place between Antoine Girard (FRA2), Toma Coconea (ROM), Aaron Durogati (ITA1), Jon Chambers (GBR) and Clement Latour (FRA1).
