In what proved to be one of the most exciting competitions we've seen in years Juliette Danion and Gerome Pouvreau from France beat stiff competition in Rovereto last night to win the third leg of the Bouldering World Cup 2006.

Danion dominated the final by topping out on all four problems first go, leaving little room for error to Olga Bibik from Russia who finished second after topping out on all four but needing one attempt more. Third placed Angela Eiter topped out on all four too, but needed 6 attempts.

If the women's competition was separated by the smallest of margins, so too was the men's, with Pouvreau getting to grips with only two problems in 3 attempts. His performance was photocopied by teammate Jerome Meyer, who needed one attempt more to reach a zone and therefore placed second. Tomas Mrazek from the Czech republic proved that, like Eiter, he is a force to be reckoned with not only in Difficulty competitions to place third (from 17th in the Qualification!), ahead of last years winner of the Bouldering World Cup Kilian Fischhuber from Austria.
