France's Mickael Mawem has produced his best perfomance when it counts most, winning the 2023 Boulder World Championship in Bern, Switzerland, just a few minutes ago. The 33-year-old, one of the oldest in the entire field, produced an amazing run to win gold thanks to 3 tops and 4 zones, while young teammate Mejdi Schalck claimed silver with 2 tops and 4 zones. Korea's Lee Dohyun completed the podium with 2 tops and 3 zones.

Commenting immediately after the competition, Mawem stated "It‘s a crazy moment. I’ve waited ten years for this. It was my goal to be the best in the world one time in my life. I’ve had a lot of failures, I’ve come back year after year. We have all these strong young guys now. I can’t believe it. It’s just crazy."
