The first stage of the Lead World Cup 2010 is currently underway in Chamonix, France. Today is the first day, the day of qualifications, while the Semifinals take places tomorrow afternon and the Finals tomorrow evening. Last year the Lead World Cup was won by Adam Ondra and Johanna Ernst and while the Czech climber stands a good chance of winning the Cup once again (and perhaps even winning the Bouldering World Cup), at present the Austrian athlete is recuperating after injuring her ankle during a fall in the Bouldering World Cup in Vail, USA. But the season is a long one and after Chamonix the competition circuit moves to China, Korea, Scotland, Belgium, China once again to finish, as tradition has it, in Kranj in Slovenia in November.

It's superfluous to say that Chamonix will serve as an excellent test to check the athletes' form for the next competition, the Rock Master which begins in Arco this Friday and which acts as the pre event of the Climbing World Championship 2011. If you want to check out the Chamonix comp, virtually of course, then follow this link to watch the live stream.
