The final stage of the Bouldering World Cup 2002, scheduled to take place in Nowy Sacz-Krakow, Poland, has been canceled. Christian Core and Natalia Perlova, leaders of the provisional ranking based on the three stages held in Italy, are therefore winners of the overall World Cup 2002.

This nth cancellation this season grants victory to Core once again; winner of the first-ever World Cup in 1999, Core returned from injury with a vengeance to win both the European Championship in Chamonix and the Italian Championship this year.

His 6th place in Fiera di Primiero, 2nd in Lecco and 1st in Rovereto secured him victory in the World Cup 2002, eleven points ahead of Malcom Smith from Scotland (5th, 1st and 3rd respectively) and 74 ahead of Jerome Meyer (1st, 6th and 25th).

Natalia Perlova from the Ukraine totaled 205 points (1st, 8th and 3rd), thirteen points ahead of Miriam Motteau (4th, 9th and 1st). This year's revelation, Olga Jakovleva from Russia, placed third after 2nd, 11th and 6th place in Rovereto.

See you next year! It's superfluous to say that hopefully the World Cup 2003 will be... exactly as it's name suggests.
