Chamonix 10 July 2003 Christian Core and Sandrine Levet are Bouldering World Champions! The men's title remains firmly in Italian hands, passing from defending title-holder Mauro Calibani to Christian Core, winner last night in Chamonix. In front of 5000 spectators Core beat Jerome Meyer by a hair's breadth: both topped out on 4 problems, but Core needed one decisive attempt less. The Italian adds this title to his truly impressive list of victories: European Champion last year, and winner of the World Cup in 1999 and 2002. Jerome Meyer placed second, while Tomazs Olesky from Poland placed third. While the men's title remains in Italy, the women's title remains in France. Sandrine Levet inherited the title from teammate Myriam Motteau, beating Natalia Perlova (second), and Fanny Rogeaux (third).
