The Nose, Lynn Hill and Jorg Verhoeven in Climbing Sparkling Moments
It’s The Nose, the most famous big wall in the world established on El Capitan after 47 days spread out between 1957 and 1958 by Warren Harding, Wayne Merry and George Whitmore, that’s the focus of podcasts #8 and #9 of Climbing Sparkling Moments by La Sportiva.
In particular, podcast #8 examines the legendary first free ascent of the route considered impossible, if not with the use of aid, by Lynn Hill in 1993. A year later the American climber closed the circle by making climbing the route in under 24 hours, an absolute milestone recognised as one of the most significant climbs in the history of climbing. The feat and vision marked a paradigm shift in free climbing, as analysed in podcast #9 by Dutch climber Jorg Verhoeven who in 2014 pulled off one the the rare free ascents.
With comments from other Yosemite greats such as Tommy Caldwell and Barbara Zangerl, here are the two podcasts. Enjoy the listen.
The series is available on Spotify, Spreaker, Apple podcasts and on all digital platforms.
