Rosa dei venti (6c+, 210m), Cava Grande del Cassibile, Sicily
Just a few days after Luci allorizzonte here's a new climb at the striking Cava grande del Cassibile (Sicily): the new multi-pitch Rosa dei venti established by Giorgio Iurato and Gabriele Puccia.
ROSA DEI VENTI
by Gabriele Puccia
One Sunday in December I woke up, it was 7:00am and it had been raining all night. Giorgio and I decided to go for a walk in Cava Grande where the river was spectacular seeing the abundant rainfall the days beforehand.
When we got there it was drizzling but we decided to continue nevertheless. This place is really evocative and wild and if you experience it in tune with all nature offers, then it offers splendid emotions. There were many great lines on our side of the valley but one in particular caught our attention; the idea of finding out what lay between those smooth slabs and compact faces really atrracted us.
Without saying too much we decided to organise things to share this new adventure together; deep down we both knew we wanted to climb this face, following its logical and natural line. Beneath us the river was in spate, fantastic, while a beautiful view opened up in front of us, nature expressing herself in all her forms. We knew we'd be back, soon, to continue our quest for freedom and excitement.
