After the first free ascent in 1996 by Stefan Fürst and the first repeat 23 years later at the hands of Adam Ondra, Roland Hemetzberger has now also managed to climb Qui at Geisterschmiedwand in Austria.

Just like for Ondra the climb came to represent "a nightmare", in particular the crux 8A boulder problem finish which caused Hemetzberger to fall at least 45 times after having sent the initial 8c section.

Motivated by Ondra’s send, three days ago the 29-year-old German climber successfully added this particular line to this climbing curriculum which includes, among others, the first free ascent of a 9a+ at Achleiten. Bolted - coincidentally - over 25 years ago by none other than Stefan Fürst.
