Ouray Ice Festival, Colorado

Anna Torretta and Matteo Giglio al Ouray Ice Festival, Colorado, the most famous Ice Park in the U.S.A.
The Ouray Ice Festival, one of the most important festivals in the States, is currently in full swing. Anna Torretta is in Colorado with numerous other international climbers, and inbetween one icefall and the next she has found the time to send us the following brief report.

OURAY: THE MOST FAMOUS ICE PARK IN THE STATES
by Anna Torretta

At Ouray, which you pronounce you-ray, you'll find the most famous Ice Park in the States. Every year the Ouray Ice Festival is held here, with some of the best and most famous ice climbers in the world: Will Gadd, Guy Lacelle, Harry Berger, Aliaj Anderle, Ines Papert, Abby Watkins, Sue Nott, Sean Isaac... and we're here too, Matteo Giglio and I. Conrad Anker, Jeff Lowe, Mark Twight are here too...

There all here for the festival but above all to climb and have fun in this small town in Colorado, located 3.5 hours from Indian Creek and 5 hours from Denver, that literally becomes crazy organising the Festival: every morning someone invites the "competitors" round to their house for breakfast, while I belay I get offered a burrito, thousands of gallons of water are sprayed onto the canyon walls each night... and tomorrow the competition begins!

Ciao from
Anna and Matteo.
