It couldn't have been any different. After years at the very top of the game, and despite the presence the "new kid on the block", alias Alexander Megos who only yesterday added Janus 9a , Markus Bock continues unperturbed in his drive to establish new routes in the Frankenjura. His latest creation is called Becoming and adds a new 10-move start to The Elder Statesman, the 9a he freed in 2011.
Back in 2011 Bock bolted this new start and on 30 May he finally redpointed what is described as one his hardest routes, if not the hardest ever. Becoming is located at the Burggrub crag that hosts historic testpieces such as Kaum Zeit zum Atmen 8a+ and Kamasutra 8b and offers powerful and technical up excellent quality limestone.
