Laura Rogora climbs 9b at Rodellar in Spain!

The news is astonishing: yesterday at Rodellar in Spain 19-year-old Italian climber Laura Rogora repeated Ali hulk sit extension total. In doing so she has become one of the select few to climb 9b and only the second woman in the world to master these extraordinary difficulties after Angela Eiter led the way in 2017 with her ascent of La Planta de Shiva at Villanueva del Rosario Spain.

Rogora demonstrated she was in great shape with her 9a+ ascent of Pure Dreaming Plus at Arco, Italy, in May, but nothing indicated that she would make the huge leap from 9a+ to 9b so quickly. But after sending Hulk extension total 8c+ at Rodellar's Alí Babá cave, yesterday she successfully linked the initial boulder start.

Ali hulk sit total extension is a 'hybrid' route, consisting of 50-move boulder problem and then, after resting and clipping the rope to the harness, an 8c+ sports climb. Rogora clipped the anchor after a mere five days of attempts.
