Jorge Díaz-Rullo has made the first ascent of Mejorando la Samfaina, a new 9b+ at Margalef in Spain. Located at the crag's showcase sector Raco De La Finestra, the route is a combination of two existing lines, Mejorando imagen and Samfaina, both of which Díaz-Rullo had sent last year. Writing to planetmountain.com after last Sunday's send, the 24-year-old explained the climb is "so long it feels like a marathon."
Although Mejorando la Samfaina is Díaz-Rullo's hardest climb to date, interestingly it is not much more than his side project at Margalef. His main focus is his mammoth project Cafe Colombia in the same sector, on which so far he has invested over 100 days of attempts.
Díaz-Rullo thanks: Petzl, SCARPA, E9, Climbskin and Mushroompad
