Last autumn Dutch climber Jorg Verhoeven repeated the Dihedral Wall on El Capitan in Yosemite together with his Austrian wife Katharina Saurwein. This was only the second free ascent, after the first carried out in 2004 by Tommy Caldwell. Verhoeven initially worked he climb established in 1962 by Ed Cooper, Jim Baldwin and Glen Denny, then made an "exhausting 5 day push" to get to the top of "this beast" that boasts an overall grade of 5.14a (8b+) and 10 out of 25 pitches harder than 8a. In autumn 2014 Verhoeven made a free ascent of The Nose on El Capitan.
