German boulderer Jan Hojer has made the third ascent Es Pontas, the extraordinary arch first climbed without a rope - deep water solo style therefore - by America’s Chris Sharma in 2006.

Hojer had worked the line in 2016 with Slovenia’s Jernej Kruder who went on to make the coveted first repeat, and although success eluded the German, he stated at the time "I haven't been this psyched on a rock climb in a while or maybe EVER! I will have to spend many days or weeks to have a chance to succeed... But i definitely want to invest as much time, skin and effort as it takes! This short trip is almost over but i will be back! Thanks Chris Sharma for all the work you put into opening these visionary lines!"

Hojer’s success comes after sticking the dyno last week, only to fall "one move away from the victory jug." Here's the uncut footage of his ascent.
