Despite the meagre winter Erik Svab has managed to flash “Mix isch fix” M10+ at the Grotta di Landro (Dobbiaco, Dolomites). The former Italian ice climbing champion sent the 20m route, established by locals Kurt Astner e Christoph Hainz, without spurs on a recent visit to what has become one of the most important dry tooling crags in the Italian Dolomites.

Grotta di Landro is located circa 3km after Toblach – Dobbiaco when heading towards Cortina d'Ampezzo. The cave is clearly visible from the road on the right. Park the car (leave no valubles) and walk to the cave in just 10 minutes. The routes are marked from left to right.

6) Fly in the wind M10/10+, 15 m
7) Höllenstein M9, 12 m
8) La via è bella M11, 20 m
9) Connection: ascend "La via è bella" to the top then descend "Mix isch fix" to produce the connection "Big Ben" M12.
This info has been taken from the new guidebook "Ghiaccio verticale" by Francesco Cappellari. Published in December 2006, it contains over 1600 ice and mixed climbs. The grades have been modified slightly in line with other crags elesewhere, Thanks to Grivel, La Sportiva, Montura and KONG for their technical support.
