Belvedere at Nago, sports climbing above Lake Garda
The name ‘Belvedere’ is Italian and means nothing other than ‘pretty view’. As the name suggests, this is also the particularity of this crag. Like at no other crag, climbers are spoilt with a fabulous view across Lake Garda. It is a unique place and also highly popular with photographers.
The crag is situated only a few kilometers from Arco and easily accessible thanks to the new panoramic path. The crag is ideal for beginners and the lower Sector A offers shorter and easier routes on a rather slabby wall with slopers. Whilst the higher Sector B provides longer, more demanding routes with big holds through the steep overhang, ideal for hard-movers. Having power and good technique definitely won’y be a disadvantage here.
The crag is well-equipped and safely bolted. Due to its beauty and famous climbs the crag is extremely popular, mostly at the weekends and in the high season. It is not possible to climb in Belvedere in the rain and climbing in strong winds is not recommended. This beautiful crag was bolted by L. Colò, M.Grasso and Giampaolo Calzà (Trota).
