At the first light of dawn Russian alpinist Valery Rozov carried out a spectacular 35 second jump, flying for 800m after having taken off just below Grand Pilier d‘Angle (4243m) on Mont Blanc, before landing on the Brenva glacier.

47-year-old Rozov had climbined Mont Blanc together with his climbing partner Alexander Ruchkin, mountain guide David Authermann and photographerThomas Senf. The four spent Monday night at the Eccles bivy (3850m), while on Tuesday they reached Col De Peuterey (3934m) where they climbed to the Grand Pilier d‘Angle. From here Rozov descended part of the famous "Divine Providence" to reach his take-off point at circa 3900m.

As usual Rozov wore a wingsuit to "pilot" his flight and as he explained, this morning's leap was short and therefore extremely technical due to the wind blowing at altitude.

Safely back on the Brenva glacier Rozov stated "To be the first wh has done a BASE jump off the Italian side of this magnificent mountain is not only a fantastic experience but also a great honour. Due to the wind I had to do a short and therefore very technical jump. I couldn't make the slightest of mistakes. Mont Blanc is spectacular and really won me over. Weather conditions permitting I'd like to do a new jump off the Grandes Jorasses soon."

We hope to publish more news shortly and also a video of the great jump.
