The international women’s meet 'Rendez-Vous Hautes Montagne' will take place in Sardinia from 2-9 September 2001


The summer 'Rendez-Vous Hautes Montagne' will take place in Sardinia from 2-9 September 2001. This international women’s meet, founded in 1968 in Engelberg (Switzerland), aims to promote the awareness of female alpinists worldwide. Since its creation it has organised meets in a variety of different locations, inviting women of all ages and nationalities to take part in activities such as climbing, ice climbing and ski mountaineering in the company of other women.

September’s meet in Sardinia will be held in the southern Iglesiente, a region renowned for it’s impressive sport climbing possibilities, and in the central Supramonte di Oliena, where the routes are situated in an almost “mountain-like” environment.

Program
Sunday 2/9/01: arrival in Villamassargia (near Cagliari), at the Bed & Breakfast “Il Castello di Gioiosa Guardia”. At night slide show about climbing in Sardinia by the local expert Maurizio Oviglia.
Monday 3, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5: climbing at the local crags.
Thursday 6: afternoon transfer to Rifugio Monte Maccione (Oliena - Nuoro).
Friday 7, Saturday 8: climbing long routes in the area.
Sunday 9: departure. Possible transfer to Cagliari airport, or back to Villamassargia for those who want to holiday there.

Accommodation
In Villamassargia: at the Bed & Breakfast “ Il Castello di Gioiosa Guardia” and, should it be necessary, in nearby flats; camping is possible in the garden.
In Oliena: at Rifugio Monte Maccione; camping also possible in the garden.
Prices (approx.): L. 36.000 per night; L. 7000 per breakfast (recommended!); L. 20.000-30.000 per dinner (with typical local products).


How to get there
You can get to Villamassargia:
- from Cagliari, along SS 130, in 45’ – 1 hour. Alternatively by train – the station is located a couple of fm from the bed & breakfast; bus by S.M.S. with Sunday departure at 10.07 and stop in Via Roma, near the harbour; bus from Cagliari – Elmas airport to the harbour): recommended if you get to Sardegna by plane;
- from Porto Torres, along SS 131 to Samassi and then following for Vallermosa – Siliqua – Villamassargia (3-4 hours).
It is advisable to book well in advance.
