'Partita Lampo' added to Petit Flambeau (Mont Blanc) by Filip Babicz, Heike Schmitt

On the NE face of Petit Flambeau in the Mont Blanc massif, Filip Babicz and Heike Schmitt have made the first ascent of the mixed climb 'Partita Lampo' (M7 200m).

On 1 November 2024, together with Heike Schmitt, I established this mixed routes that climbs directly up the central section of NE Face of Petit Flambeau. Following a series of large, compact slabs, all belays are equipped with bolts while all pitches need protecting, apart from one bolt on pitch 3 and one on pitch 5 shared with pre-existing routes.

The outcome is beautiful "modern mixed" climb, not to be underestimated, just a 20-minute approach from the Sky Way cable car. The return can be carried out on foot, descending from the summit to Col Flambeau or, if the approach is on skis, by abseil (belay stations equipped with maillon rapide).

As for the name Partita Lampo, as fast as lighting… Usually projects occupy my thoughts for quite a while, from the initial idea to the final realization. The process can last months and often years. Here though all happened in less than 24 hours! It was really a lightning match: examining a photo of the face, working out that the other routes avoided the most compact section, making a quick search for possible other lines, exchanging a couple of messages with Heike, booking the cable car and off we go! And this the result!
