New rock climb on Cornone di Blumone, Adamello, Italy

On the East Face of Cornone di Blumone in the Adamello massif, Andrea Mutti made the first ascent of Il Paradiso Perduto (6b, 300m). The face has been called Icaro Wall and the route is named in honour of Corrado "Icaro" De Monte.

Blumone East Face with the routes Via Gaspari and Il Paradiso Perduto

A beautiful and fun climb up the excellent granite on the East Face of Cornone di Blumone, totally trad, in an area which is off the beaten track and has a huge potential for new routes.

The area is certainly worth treating well, where imagination can take flight to establish new routes and also to reach the base of the walls. Yes, because there are more than just one and all lack access paths.

Truth be told there was already one exploratory route up the East Face, established in 1989 by Giorgio Gasperi and the two of us decided to dedicate not merely the routes, but the entire face to magnificent Corrado de Monte. This is how Il Paradiso Perduto - Lost paradise - was established up the Icaro Wall, climbed alone on 22/11/2015, 300m, max difficulties 6b.
