With the help of a series of friends Frenchman Nicolas Potard recently established a new linkup up South Face of the Grand Capucin, Le tresor de Romain 8a+. The route shares the first pitch of Voyage selon Gulliver and then reaches the "focus" of the ascent: it tackles the former aid pitch of via Lecco, established in 1968 by Guerrino Cariboni, Casimiro Ferrari, Carlo Mauri, Aldo Anghileri and Pino Negri, which now goes free at 8a+. The route then continues up two new pitches, graded 6a and 7a+ respectively, to join the 8a pitch called Batman and finishing up "De fil en Aiguille".

Potard doesn't exclude that in the future the route may have an independent finish and, for the record, Le tresor de Romain is dedicated to Romain Vogler and all his beautiful routes across the Alps.
