Ciubaka, first highline in the Tatras
Seeing that mainland Europe's currently baking in a spell of hot weather, here's a somewhat unusual video: poor weather in the Tatra and the beautiful first highline in this Polish mountain chain. As the name indicates, highlining is in many respects an evolution from slacklining, where webbing is rigged between two points, but in this case high above the ground meaning that the void plays an important factor.
The video documents the Somewhereelseland team - comprised of Janek Galek from Poland, Jakub Hanus from the Czech Republic and the two Americans Jordan Tybon and Faith Dickey as they walk across the highline, rigged at 50m between the Zadni Mnich pillar and the west ridge of Mount Cubryna. A great adventure, fantastic images taken by Wojtek Kozakiewicz. Worth watching.
