In mid-June the small French town of Chamonix and the Mont Blanc slopes will host the Arc'teryx Alpine Arc'ademy 2013, a sort of meeting which for the second year running aims to be "a weekend of mountaineering education and inspiration." As the slogan implies, its all about learning more skills and techniques for climbing and mountaineering and about sharing the love for the mountains with others.

The Arc'ademy will take place from 14 - 16 June and there will be circa 20 different clinics and seminars run by mountain guides, athletes and other pros who, starting from the Aiguille du Midi cable ca , will set off to examine a series of different themes at altitude: alpine climbing, crevasse rescue, a bivy course, introduction to ice climbing, high altitude medicine, navigation and orienteering in the mountains and much more... there's even a workshop specifically for women, namely the Women's Glacier Tour.

Once the clinics are over and back at Chamonix the Arc'ademy will continue throughout the evening with seminars, debates and the Alpine Movie Night, i.e. films and the chance to find out more directly from athletes themselves such as Will Gadd, Ines Papert, Josune Bereziartu, Nina Caprez and Luka Lindic to name just a few. Furthermore, demo gear will be provided to put to the test and companies will be at hand to explain how to repair and care for your gear.

The program is intense and, thanks to a special deal, the cost of the workshops has been kept to a bare minimum to allow everyone to take part. A prize draw for a two-person trip is also up for grabs and for all further information check out the website www.alpinearcademy.com. But hurry, the places are limited!
