Snow safety, avalanche awareness courses in Austria
Registration is now online for the Austrian winter "Snow & Avalanche Awareness Camps" aimed at off-piste skiers and and snowboarders.
For the last decade the Austrian non-profit organisation SAAC has been running a series of winter camps for off-piste skiers and each season more than 1000 skiers and snowboarders take part in this great event.
The two-day camps are free of charge and run by certified mountain and ski guides who provide all the necessary equipment for the course. Everyone over 14 year of age can take part in the camp and the aim is obviously to increase participants' awareness of alpine hazards outside marked pistes.
This season the camps will be held 25 times in ski resorts above all in Austria's Voralberg and Tyrol. Registration is possible online on the site www.saac.at.
