Grigna Settentrionale, probabile first ski descent by Giacomo Rovida and Ramon Chiodi

On 5/04/2013 Giacomo Rovida and Ramon Chiodi made the probabile first ski descent down Grigna Settentrionale. The couloir is beautiful, demanding and a long way away from the usual destinations, as Giacomo Rovida explains.

The Grignone is truly magical, beneath its countless pinnacles lie beautiful and still little explored couloirs. We're always in search of fresh snow and this year this raw material certainly hasn't been lacking. We discovered a jewel just above the path that leads to the Rifugio Bietti and we decided not to miss the opportunity and climbed up it. When we reached the top we realised that we'd be able to ski all the way down, despite the slopes not being particularly easy and the two steep narrow sections where we were forced to jump. The couloir was great and worth it, the area feel remote and far removed from the usual skiing destinations! We don't know if it's ever been ascended and since there is no trace in any guidebooks we decided to call it Una Storia Sbagliata, a wrong story. Those who repeat it will tell us how beautiful it is, all we can do is fully recommend it, you won't be disappointed!

Vertical gain: 400m. The gully starts at 1500m and reaches the Piancaformia ridge at 1900m.
