The Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme has announced it has cancelled the last two stages of the ice climbing World Cup in Russia. Published below is the official UIAA press release.

On Saturday 29 January at Saas Fee in Switzerland local favourite Petra Klingler and France's Louna Ladevant won the 2022 Lead ice climbing World Championships. Mohsen Beheshti Rad and Natalia Savitskaia were crowned Speed World Champions on Friday 28 January.

Saas Fee in Switzerland is currently hosting the ice climbing World Championships 2022. After the Speed discipline won yesterday by Mohsen Beheshti Rad and Natalia Savitskaia, the Lead finals take place today at 18:30. Live streaming directly from ‘the coldest car park in the world’.

From 2 -3 March 2021 Matthias Wurzer and Vittorio Messini, two mountain guides from Kals, Austria, completed a winter ascent of the Virger Nordkette (Frosnitzkamm) from Hintereggerkogel to Galtenscharte in one and a half days. Messini reports.
